The Advantages of Compact SUVs

compact-suv

Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) have gained a strong foothold in the consumer car market, and automakers offer a range of body styles and features to meet the preferences and demands of their customers. One popular variation is the compact SUV, which is a smaller, lighter cousin of the full-size and luxury sports utility vehicle.

There are several advantages of compact SUVs which make them attractive options, particularly to budget-conscious drivers. They tend to get better gas mileage while offering excellent handling, and best of all, they tend to be priced at the lower end of the SUV range.

The main reason that compact SUVs get better gas mileage than their full-sized counterparts is their lighter overall weights. Full-sized sports utility vehicles are notorious for being gas guzzlers, largely because their bulky bodies are extremely heavy, requiring the expenditure of more fuel to operate them. Compact SUVs are hundreds of pounds lighter on average, which will leave your wallet a little bit heavier after visiting the gas station.

While sports utility vehicles are specially designed to handle well in a full range of road and off-road conditions, compact SUVs often display superior cornering and maneuvering abilities. This, again, is thanks to that their relatively light and slim bodies, which can twist and turn more sharply and safely than larger vehicles.

These economical vehicles, as mentioned, are usually priced at the lower end of the manufacturer’s range. If you want the drivability and convenience of an SUV without the hefty price tag, compact SUVs are an excellent compromise. It is recommended that you thoroughly research the makes and models you are interested with the help of automotive experts as well as consumer reviews.

If you are considering a used compact SUV, it is important that you do your due diligence. Even if you are purchasing the vehicle through a reputable dealer, you should request information on the vehicle’s history and inquire about service records. If a certain compact SUV has been involved in accidents or has had major mechanical work, you may be better off investing your money in a different vehicle.

Hi,I am a Scorpio owner and i have to say that i am totally and comelptely satisfied with this product. This car which comes in the SUV section in the Indian market has great potential in it and has satisfied me to the core. The Scorpio has a great turning radius which outclasses the innova, safari, and other such car in this category. The body is strong and not delicate and is a much more reliable car than many others available in the Indian market today. Coming to the fuel consumption part, i have to say that it gives u a better mileage seeing the conditions of the roads today here in India. The Scorpio has a great engine and so a good pick up. The run it has on highways is also tremendous. In terms of other vehicles as far as the speed part is concerned these vehicles have a weak link, that is when they touch a speed of more than 120 Km/ph they tend to shake or vibrate a lot which is not the case here with the Scorpio. With a Scorpio when driving in a highway and in times of overtaking, you dont have to think twice to do that mannouvre as it takes on the road in a smooth and efficient way unlike the innova which is a bulky car and the driver faces difficulties in doing such mannouvres. When in times of an accident (major or minor) the Scorpio tends to have a lot of safety measures plus it has a strong body unlike innova and tavera which even with a small hit gives an impression of a huge damage to the car's outer body as its very delicate, but for Scorpio that is not the case and i have also experienced the way the service stations act in times of servicing your car and they are really helpful and fast and they are not like the other service stations which sometimes mistreat their customers by wasting their precious time and money. The price of a Scorpio is also reasonable comparing the same with an innova or tavera as the Scorpio gives you a better performance meter reading than the others and these cars also cost a lot as compared to a Scorpio. Mahindra is following one important rule in customer satisfaction by giving them good treatment and also by leading them in the right way.To conclude this review of mine the scorpio is worth every penny you spend and gives you a smile with satisfaction. -- Ntc

FlexFuel or flexible fuel vheicles actually have nothing to do with the number of pistons being used at any given time but are different in the type of fuel that they are able to use. Flexfuel vheicles can run on any mixture of gasoline and ethanol (up to a maximum of 85% ethanol). The ethanol's main benefit is reducing harmful emissions put out by the vehicle. Vehicles running on E85 or gasoline mixtures really don't get any better gas mileage than regular gasoline powered vheicles and in many cases get less miles per gasoline due to less energy in the E85 mixutre. The motivation for flexfuel is simply that these vheicles have much lower CO2 and other dangerous gas emissions in an attempt to helpout the environment. -5Was this answer helpful? -- Abdul

I bought a 2008 rouge with ALL alaviable options, and I love it!! I always get compliments. But I gotta admit I'm already having transmission problems! It slips gears, over revs, won't shift. And the thing sucks on gas. One year we took my bfs 97 Nissan maxima on a 250 mile drive, and when we made it to the destination, we still had a quarter tank left. We took the rouge, and the gas light was on before we even made it there. So, I don't know. It soooooooo comfortable, and I love absolutely eve -- Daisy

TANSTAAFL : There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free LunchYou are correct about the current state of VISTA, but that was also true of early versions of OSX & WinXP. By bloat, I’m sure you are referring to the hardware driver compatability, and user-proofing that have gone into tweaking the operation systems & application suites over the years.Vista should have all the bugs out, not long after XP is retired, because business will demand it, just as so many other OS’s have adjusted over the years. What business require to function at profit is low-cost, but ROBUST (user & wear resistant) software. If you know of a lite-ware vendor, who can provide guaranteed service software which is protected against inept users, malware, and natural disaster… then you have the recipe for a company which will make billions. [Seeing that light-bulb yet?]Be sure that includes nativization in Mandarin as well as English.I would love it if Openware were as ubiquitous as you suggest, because then there would be a huge need for technical support again. We’re already seeing a trend toward this with the hiring demand (vaccum really) for Unix System Administrators. I’m already brushing off very old skills, to get back into that command-line world of doing things the hard way… just so business managers can use cheaper server hardware with the Linux/Unix software. It is much more labor-intensive for me. Everyone knows that time is money, and techs are going to start charging a LOT by the hour. Or… you could just stick with ‘bloatware’, which is self-mending & robust. The balance decisions becomes one of time spent in customization & developement, versus ease & low cost of administration. auto insurance quotes -- Kaydi
